My Sister’s First Site

Posted By Little Smarter on June 7, 2008 @ 1:42 pm

My younger sister has always been the creative one in the family and has painted some amazing watercolors.  It is not uncommon for her to spend an entire week painting, and I even have some of her work on my walls.

She is also very entrepreneurial, and decided that instead of getting a summer job this year that she would setup a website to sell her original works of art.  She knew that they should do okay since she has had a lot of success selling them locally, so the Internet for her was a logical extension of her business.

She created her own website, bought a good name for it, and found a free web host to host the site for her.  What was really cool is that she did it all on her own, without the help of anyone else.

It only took two days for her to get her fist sale, and she hasn’t looked back.  All I can say is that I am very proud of my little sister.

Moving back to London

Posted By Jenn Brockman on June 6, 2008 @ 10:47 am

My aunt is considering moving back the London area and is trying to research UK land before going back. She lived in London for about 20 years in her youth and misses it quite a bit.

However, she would like to invest in some land for sale in the surrounding area rather than renting a flat in London. She understands what investments can do for a person in the long term but she also needs to have a place to live and hopes to be able to build on the land that she buys.

A land investment could take years before it is ready to develop though so she may need a while longer before finding the right land opportunity in the UK area. She told me that a place northwest of the city would be nice but she is interested in almost any area and is itchy to move back after years in Miami Beach.

Ready to Succeed

Posted By Twyla on June 5, 2008 @ 2:07 pm

I have tried my hand at several multi level marketing ventures and have failed at every single one of them. I thought that it was because I was a horrible salesperson and I told myself each and every time that it would be the last time I would let someone talk me into something that I knew in my heart was going to fail.

The last one was different. Instead of having the wrong attitude and telling myself that I was going to fail, I told myself that I was successful and that my business was successful. I finally figured out that if you tell yourself that you are going to fail than you will.

I also learned a lot of secrets about network marketing and put my whole self into the business. I devoted all of my spare time into being successful and that is exactly what I became. I now have to give it very little time because my down line makes me all the money I could ever hope to need.

Creating Wealth in my Life

Posted By Little Smarter on June 4, 2008 @ 2:30 pm

I have always been a firm believer that you get what you most desire.  In fact, I think that if you truly want something in your life, you have to believe that you have it.

I wasn’t surprised when I watched The Secret and they talked about manifestation of wealth.  They talk about how when you believe that you have something, your mind and the universe work together to give you what you most desire.

So, if I need money in my life, I just “ask” for it.  It is not necessary for me to know the details of how that wealth will appear in my life, but it is necessary for the desire to be there.  Without fail, this has worked for me, sending wealth my way when I need it.

But the opposite can be true as well – if you believe in your negative thoughts, you can expect the worse to become true as well.

Back in the Day

Posted By Deb Gallardo on June 3, 2008 @ 7:27 pm

I’ve joined my share of multi-level marketing organizations. From selling soap to supplements to Aloe Vera juice, my efforts met with limited MLM success, which is to say none. The most difficult aspect was the matter of MLM lead generation. Back in the day distributors (or whatever the current terms is) were encouraged to take every opportunity to meet new people: in line at the bank, at the supermarket, at the library. Then there was the whole “hitting on family and friends” scenario, dragging them to a presentation meeting and damaging relationships for years to come.

Well those days, for the most part, are long gone. Now experienced ML marketers set up web or telephonic conference calls where they do the recruitment of new leads for a new member of the team. It’s a great way of training new people and there’s no face-to-face selling for anyone. Often a video presentation online has already done the pre-selling. Whether it’s family, friends, or leads from the company’s pool, this method has outstripped the old way.

And to add to the mix of this online environment, blogs are being used to supplement traditional MLM methods. Now blogging for profit has become easier than ever. It’s not your father’s MLM anymore.

Bill Consolidation is my Only Option

Posted By Little Smarter on @ 1:04 pm

There is nothing worse in your adult life when you feel like you are not making it.  Sure, it could be as simple as losing your job, or some other circumstances, but honestly it still sucks.  In fact, I almost feel like I am a failure since I found myself in that situation.

You see, the company I work for hands out hours based on the workload that they have.  We had a few good months and they hired a lot of new people, only to run into slow times a couple months later.  Instead of firing their new hires, they just reduced the hours for the rest of us.

In fact, my hours were reduced so bad that I couldn’t afford to pay all my bills anymore, and I quickly found myself in some hot water.  With my bills all in arrears, my only option was to get one of those bill consolidation loans or risk not having power, phone or water.

Thankfully, that was the answer to my prayers.  The loan helped reduce my monthly payments, and when work started to get busy again, I was finally able to catch up.

Considering Changing Payment Processors

Posted By Jenn Brockman on June 2, 2008 @ 3:40 pm

I’m running what is considered by some to be a high risk business and I currently use Paypal to do my payment processing. However, I’m concerned about growing my business and wonder if I should be looking at different high risk merchant accounts?

There are several things that I have to look at. The first being cost. Can I beat Paypal processing fees? For some processors, they won’t eve disclose the fee amounts before signing up. That sends red flags up for me!

I have many customers from outside the country and Paypal actually makes this pretty easy to deal with, but wouldn’t an off shore account make this easy also? Many providers make sure there is a reserve kept in your account at all times or for the first several months that your account is open. I’m sure it is protection for them, but if I need the funds in order to buy more products or to pay for the services that I require in order to run my site, that reserve is going be hard to deal with.

Making it Hard to Leave

Posted By Twyla on @ 11:38 am

When I was living in Europe for a year, I decided that I would get a job as a limousine hire. I knew that it paid alright and I knew that it was a job I could handle, but it was also a job that I could easily leave when it was time for me to return home.

I applied first at limo hire Kent and I drove for them for a little while. I enjoyed it and I met so many people. Some of them were even famous, so that was a new thing for me. It was a great experience.

After that, I got a job with limo hire Surrey and I absolutely loved that job. The people who owned it were amazing and they made me feel like I never wanted to go home. They made me feel like I was at home already. It was hard to leave them.

Drums at the Wedding

Posted By Jenn Brockman on June 1, 2008 @ 12:27 pm

We want to do something not so traditional at our wedding since we are not traditional types of people. One of the things we are considering is having African tribal drumming during dinner and possibly even the ceremony, but most certainly for the reception and party after.

Since I’ve been a belly dancer most of my life, the idea of drumming to celebrate a happy moment in life makes much sense to me and my fiance likes the idea as well.

The service that we’ve found offers to play different styles, both mellow and upbeat. We are thinking of a sensuous and melodic drum song while I walk down the isle and then later a fun and interactive session where we and the guests all get to play the drums along with the tribal band.
I think it beats the heck out of watching a bunch of people on a dance floor who shouldn’t be dancing.
