Does your skin ripple or dimple when you pinch it? If it does, you probably have cellulite. Nobody likes cellulite, but how do you get rid of it? There are lots of ways, actually.

The best way to take care of cellulite is the simplest – just get plenty of exercise and drink a lot of water. Reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake and eat a healthy, balanced diet. This will go farther than anything else you could try to eliminate cellulite.

There are many common over the counter medications which can cause or exacerbate cellulite problems. The worst offenders are diet pills, laxatives and diuretics ? taken on a regular basis, these pills can spell cellulite.

Your first thought was probably to run to the pharmacy and get some cellulite reducing cream, right? Unfortunately, these creams are only a temporary solution. You have to keep using them ? which can get a little pricey. If you choose to go this route, be prepared to spend some money and be patient.

If you are using these creams, you might look for a cellulite cream containing aminophylline, which breaks down fat cells into fatty acids, which go back into the system. Make sure to store these creams in a cool, dry place. There are those who will tell you not to use harsh chemical treatments such as these; but the decision is up to you.

Cellulite creams and lotions which contain the ingredients glycolic acid and lactic acid can help to remove the top layer of dead skin cells quickly, which will lend a healthier look to your skin. Products which contain retinol and alpha hydroxyl acid can also have this effect. These salon style treatments can help, but also tend to be somewhat expensive.

Speaking of beauty salons, believe it or not, many salons are even recommending that their customers wear certain underwear and pantyhose to stop cellulite. The idea is that something in the mesh fabric is supposed to stimulate microcirculation in the skin. Not everyone agrees with that theory, but the underwear might help to cover up the cellulite, even if it doesn’t cure it.

Getting a massage works for some. This will also improve the circulation in the skin and will improve its appearance, while it will not cure you cellulite problem on its own.

As you can see, there are a lot of different cellulite treatment options available. The best of these is still just to get plenty of exercise, drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet. Not only is this probably the most effective cellulite treatment, it is also good for your overall health and well-being.
