Our roofs over our heads means so much to us.  Sometimes it is used figuratively to mean the homes we live in.But the roof that is literally over us is so important as well.  But our roofs don’t last forever and there comes a time when it needs to be replaced. With this article we are going to share with you how to tell if it does need to be replaced.

The first thing to know is just how old your roof exactly is.If the home has been owned by you since it was built that makes the answer to that question easy.If you didn’t buy it new but bought it used that makes it tougher to know how old it is.But there are ways for you to find out it’s age.  Generally I tell all my clients of my San Diego roofing company if there roof is over 20 years old it needs to be replaced.  That isn’t a rule set in stone but it is a good  rule to go by.

Next thing you want to know is if there are any leaks.  As your roof ages and gets older there will start to be more and more leaks. If you start to have leaks going throughout your home with different areas of your roof that usually means you have to replace it.  That is why if a customer calls our Carlsbad roofing company with a leak problem we look to see if it needs to be replaced.

The final thing to look for is if you have shingles and you see that they are curling up that is a good sign it has to be replaced. At minimum what you will need is a professional roof repair company to take a look and inspect.  We do that all the time with our Rancho Bernardo roofing company.

So those are a few ways to know if your roof needs to be fixed or replaced.Doing these few things will help you determine if you have to get your roof replaced.
