You are going to build an online business to improve your financial situation. The problem is you are a beginner in this area so you dont know exactly of where to start.
There are 3 subjects to consider in building your own web 2.0 for your online business. The first one is the website composition and layout, second is website traffic, and the third is maintaining bonds with your visitors and customers.
When building your website you should not only settle for HTML and CSS, you need to employ some of the modern Web 2.0 software commonly called CMS or Content Management Software.
Bringing that to your website, it will become more dynamic and interactive. And as it becomes interactive, people will love to visit the site more often creating important website traffic for you. CMS is easier to install nowadays so this should not be a problem.
So now youve got your website ready. You have done everything right. What is your next step?
Now you need to let people know that you exist. Get traffic of course. Think of your website as of something that always changes and grows into the future.
So how are you going to drive traffic to your website? Maybe you are considering if you should buy website traffic ? But maybe there is another way to do it ?
Yes, it is. This is a brand new approach to traffic knowledge.
Its called Web 2.0 traffic stampede ! That amazing method will attract avalanche of visitors to your website with money to spend. The first ingredient in your wealth formula is Web 2.0 traffic power it-self!
The title Web 2.0 signifies that there was something at an earlier phase called Web 1.0. Actually, there was not. In fact, there was just the World Wide Web, which started simply, and grew like Topsy.
To generate a high traffic flow, youll need to use various Web 2.0 sites, and set up your own Web 2.0 site.

The Internet has changed the way that the world does its shopping. You can buy just about anything that you can think of with the click of a mouse these days: clothes, jewelry, electronics, flowers, food – even cars. Shopping online is quicker and easier than the conventional method of acquiring things and you can do it without leaving your house, heck you can do it without changing out of your pajamas if you want.
The ability to do much of your shopping from home stems from incredible advancements in technology but despite some vast improvements in internet security during recent years internet shopping still has some very real dangers for shoppers who aren’t careful.
Here are some things to look out for and some of the biggest mistakes the internet shoppers can make:
Not Purchasing over Secure Servers
This simple mistake can cause online shoppers major headaches because sending your information over a connection that isn’t secure can leave it open for anyone to see, this information will include your method of payment (credit card number complete with expiration date and security code or your bank account and routing number) along with your name and your address. If this information falls into the wrong hands you could find yourself in a world of financial trouble.
Some of the charges to your credit cards could probably be written off by the credit card companies once the charges are proven to be someone else’s and not yours leaving you with little in the way of direct financial damage, but removing the fraudulent charges could take a good deal of time which could wreak havoc with your credit rating and cause problems if you try to get a loan or apply for a new job before the situation gets rectified.
The best way to avoid a situation like this is to look for a secure method of checkout like Google checkout or PayPal so you are one hundred percent certain that your information is going through a trustworthy source.
You may be able to find a price that seems too good to be true on some random website that has no secure checkout method, but before you proceed ask yourself if it will be worth the months and months of aggravation trying to recover from identity theft to save a few dollars.
Not Shopping Around
The beauty of online shopping is that we are no longer limited by distance – you can literally buy whatever you want from where ever it happens to be – across the country or across the continent, you can compare prices and products from all over the world and buy from the source that has what you want for the price that you want to pay.
Some people make the mistake of purchasing the item they are looking for from the first online store they stumble upon that has it. This is a fine method for shopping if you have a ton of disposable income, but for people who are on a budget – there is truly no better way available to shop around for the best price than online shopping.
Find the item(s) that you want, and then search all of the reputable outlets you can think of for a price comparison. Online retailers are competing for your business just like traditional retailers do – the difference is that with traditional shopping you would have had to spend your entire day driving all over creation to find out who had the best price, with online shopping you can finds the best deals in a matter of minutes without even getting up from your chair.
Not Taking Everything into Account
If you’re new to online shopping, be wary that you may incur charges beyond just what the virtual “price tag” says. You may or may not have to pay shipping for the item you purchase; you may or may not have to pay extra handling charges and depending on where the online retailer is and where you live you may or may not be responsible for sales tax as well. You have to take all of these things into account before you make your purchase to ensure that you are getting the best deal possible.
Online shopping can change the way you do all of your shopping for the better, but you need to keep your eyes open to several things to be a successful online shopper – be safe, shop around and watch the fine print to make sure that your online shopping experiences are safe and positive ones.
We get many CCNA students who ask us how to incorporate their Linksys/D-Link or similar Cable/DSL wireless router into their newly purchased Cisco CCNA lab. Although this can be done, it is not something we suggest.
I will touch on a few reasons we dont really recommend this setup, but I am sure if we really sat down and thought about it we could come up with more.
1)Depending on the model of the home Linksys/D-Link Cable/DSL router that you are talking about, many of them dont support the protocols you will be setting up in your Cisco CCNA home lab. Some of the newer ones will support RIP. But rarely will you see any of these home type routers support any of the advanced protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP and such. A few of them are now also supporting the ability to enter static routes, which is niceand they are improving with each generation but they still are not what you want to base your Cisco CCNA studies on.
2)Most of them come out of the box setup as DHCP servers. Unless you start playing around with those settings, this will conflict with some of the DHCP and other labs you should be doing in your CCNA lab. This generally leads to breaking your home network and then you have your spouse, parents, kits, etc complaining because you took down their Internet connection. The more they complain, the more you stress out and keep figure out the solution as everyone is yelling at you. Just dont do it!
3)Besides the ability to not support all the protocols a real Cisco router willthe Linksys/D-Link Cable/DSL routers will not be able to work seamlessly with many of the advanced security features you will find in a Cisco Router during your CCNA lab studies.
So what we suggest for the new Cisco CCNA student is to keep their home Linksys/D-Link Cable/DSL network separate from their Cisco CCNA lab network. Why besides the items listed above? Well another thing we tend to find is you are learning in the new CCNA lab network. You are going to break things and spend countless hours trying to figure out what you did wrong, how to fix it and what you broke. Many times you will never figure it out and just start over from scratch. Also one thing you will discover with Cisco routing is an issue with one Cisco router will propagate to other routers. For example, when an interface goes down on a router, the route is removed systematically from the route tables of all the routers. Thus routes are recalculated and you will be sent a different way to get to the destination. So long story short, we suggest in the beginning learning stages, keep your home network and CCNA lab network completely separate.
Integrating your home and CCNA networks sounds like a great idea until you totally mess it up, have no idea what you are doing or how to fix it while your spouse, kids, parents, whomever are yelling at you because they cant get to their myspace account.or worse yet, now you cant get your home network back working to the point where you can get to some of your favorite websites or email accounts. So just be patient and progress at a slow steady pace with your CCNA studies. Before you know it you will actually understand how to integrate the two networks from knowledge you gained through your studies and not because someone gave you an example to type in and follow. You will actually be able to sit down and figure it our for yourself. This is a true measure of your comprehension of the Cisco CCNA exam concepts and will provide you with a real life situation where you can test your Cisco CCNA expertise!
Studies revealed that humans already loved pets even during the pre-historic days. For thousands of years, man has established a good relationship with specific dog types. Useful dogs are treated nicely and are fed regularly. As years passed, domesticated dogs were developed and at present, there are already different groups or types of dogs like the sight hounds, guardian or livestock dogs, and the hunting dogs. To maintain such differences, the people intentionally mated different breeds to uphold certain characteristics.
Purebreds were for the rich and famous but that was years ago. Dogs today are more affordable because of the extreme competition in the dog breeding industry. Some breeders concentrate mainly on purebreds while others focus on mix breed or cross breed dogs. There are different types of breeding such as inbreeding, line breeding, and out-crossing.
Dogs should be registered with the dog registry like kennel clubs. Owners of studs should also be registered so that you can receive the necessary documents. The American Kennel Club or AKC is quite popular in the US and you can find a huge database of all the dogs there with their respective lineage, working qualities, and achievements. These dogs are also the ones who are associated with the kennel clubs in the US.
Purebreds also have their own records in the registry. Dog breeders are encouraged to check with the registry to learn more about a particular dog breed. The records can help a breeder in analyzing the traits, pedigrees, and other valuable information. The registration of purebreds and mixed breeds vary depending on the state you live in, the registries, and kennel clubs. A certain breed already has an established standard that breeders should follow. They must abide with the rules to ensure the health of dogs.
Dogs are required to undergo hip certifications, joint X-rays, and even eye exams. Special tests or trials should be passed by your dog to get the certification. An expert will evaluate your dog’s working qualities and other factors before a certification is issued.
The new breeders are often called backyard breeders. Those mass producing businesses are called puppy farms or puppy mills. Dog breeding is considered unethical by animal rightists. But it’s up to the dog breeder to practice ethics in the conduct of his business.
These animal rightists claim that inbreeding dogs should not be encouraged because genetic disorders are increased. They also claim that there is already an overpopulation of pets in the world today and they also protest against the yearly killings of dogs in animal shelters.
Dog breeders are already aware that dogs possess inheritable characteristics just like humans. It is therefore very important that only the good genes are passed on to the puppies. Among the common hereditary problems are hip dysplasia, eye problems, heart conditions, deafness, bone or joint, etc.
Dog registries and breed clubs are conducting extensive studies on these conditions so that breeders will have adequate information on how to prevent such genetic defects. The OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of Animals) is also collecting useful data for the benefit of dog breeders.
Dog breeding is rich in history. For thousands of years, people cared for dogs and it’s no wonder that dogs are closest to man of all the animals or pets. So, do you want to become a dog breeder? Decide now.
The Internet has brought a lot of new ways of doing business and marketing. The ability to reach out to millions of potential customers around the world has change many business and created new forms of it.
But as technology evolves, the way we do business also has to change. Otherwise we are doomed to fail. As one of the biggest changes in the evolution of the Internet are social networks. The way people interact online has changed, and we know see the Internet not only as a information medium but as a community of people.
Communication with your customers is not a new idea in business. To be successful a business has always had to listen and respond to their customers – communication is key. However to establish such communication has always been a difficult task. The methods used to do that are time consuming and expensive. Every business has their methods which aim to make that process as efficient as possible but it’s nowhere near perfect.
The Internet as medium has improved communication process dramatically. However, they were essentially the same and their effectiveness has decreased as they have become cheaper. Social marketing, however, has brought them to a whole new level.
In social networks, we have a live, vibrant and responsive community. It is as easy to communicate as in a party with friends. That’s in essence a dream of every marketer. To have a hungry crowd at their finger tips, to know what the crowd wants and to be able to give that to them any time.
But there are obstacles, it’s not a straight forward process. It’s not trivial to find your niche and build your community. Such communities already exist, but to approach them they have to let you in. Big social networks have their restrictions.
Functionality: Design your pages in such a way that they load very quickly. Your menu options should contain standard titles, like: Home, About Us, Contact Us, etc. Try not to use headings that are supposedly “clever” or “current”. Allow for easy text navigation links at the bottom of large pages so viewers do not have to deal with scrolling to the top.
Layout: Use black text on a white background, or vice versa for your page’s body. Font sizes of less than 10pt should not be used for the main section of your page. Choose sans-serif fonts rather than serif fonts, since sans-serif fonts are easier to read on the screen. Break up blocks of text that are very long. Make sure to test your site so that you know if it looks good in various browsers and resolutions.
Branding Your Site: Feature your logo on all the pages. Create a tagline to accompany your logo that’s easy to remember and brings your business to mind. Choose a layout and color scheme that is consistent and recognizable throughout the site. Include an About Us section which contains significant details about you and your company. A copyright statement should be included at the bottom of every page. Your logo should be linked to the homepage, except on the home page itself. Include a link to the home page on all the other pages.
Content: Avoid unnecessary jargon and use an easy to understand style, unless you are targeting a narrow technical audience. Make sure to use a spell checker program. Spelling mistakes can damage your credibility and cause embarrassment.
Hyperlinks: Your links should be descriptive. They should point out what the user will be linking to instead of simply stating “click here”. Make sure all of your links are underlined and are in a distinct color throughout your entire site. You should only underscore links — nothing else. Use a different color for visited links should you define them in your style sheet. Make certain that your links work properly and that they aren’t broken.
BT the UK’s largest telecoms provider is selling ‘capped calls’ and call plans on the basis of the savings – are these capped deals really that good or is this a financial smoke screen?
Call rates are unusually tricky to find on websites, BT’s own website proved awkward to say the least with over 50 long lists to look through I wouldn’t be surprised if many new customers give up the search – or maybe thats the intention? Calling telecoms companies proved a bit more fruitfull athough overwhelming with the variety of products that seemed to offer good rates on one hand and take away with long contract obligations with the other.
Armed with call rates call rates for BT & a few other telecoms prividers, I had to to establish the average call length – BT were not forthcomming with this information. Luckily for me Telecost performed this task in 2002 – they studied the phone records of 100 companies around the UK in various industry sectors. In total some 2 million records were analysed – of course some time has gone by and without a bigger study it is difficult to be certain – but here are the results:
Average duration of mobile call (07 number) – 110 seconds.
Average duration of national call (01 number) – 112 seconds.
Average length of landline call (02 numbers) – 121 seconds.
Assuming that the average call length therefore is 2 minutes:
A 2 minute call on BT Standard Rate to mobile is 45p and to landline is 15p inc BT’s call setup fee.
A 2 Minute call with BT’s ‘Business Plan’ to mobile would cost 25p (capped) and to landline would cost 8p on a 1 year contract.
A 2 minute mobile call using BT’s ‘Oneplan’ is 20p (capped) and a 2 minute landline call is 5p (capped) on a 2 year contract with additional BT services required.
A 2 minute mobile call using Westlake LCR is 18p and a 2 minute landline call is 2.5p on a one year contract.
A 2 minute call using Midland LCR to mobile is 16p and 1.8p to landline on a 1 year contract with minimum spend requirement.
A 2 minute call using Gradwell VOIP to mobile would cost 20p and a 2 minute call to landline would be free(subject to acceptable usage otherwise would cost 2.5p) on a 3 month contract.
The conclusion therefore is:- if your business makes average length calls then you are probably better off with LCR or VOIP, however if your business calls are typically long then BT offers good value, however…
The most efficient way to route business calls is to use a telephone system such as Asterisk which is able to route calls via the most efficient methods: ie. route all national calls through VOIP hence take advantage of free calls and unlimited outbound trunks. Route mobile calls through GSM gateways to take advantage of free calls to staff mobiles & lowest possible mobile call rates(1.45 -4.5p/min). It is also a good idea to have a few BT lines on Oneplan to route long calls. This method also allows gives the user the benefit of mutiple failovers.
This article is merely a guide to help UK businesses make up their own minds – the call rates were obtained in Sept 08 hence may or may not be accurate at the time of reading.
Independent writing offers all the possibilities of the Internet and they are offered by many companies. Almost everyone can take advantage of this home-based business.
If you are even somewhat of a skilled writer you can learn about the industry and soon you will have expertise in the area and will find all kinds of writing leads.
To do this, you do not have to have experience or be a professional, but you must have the right kind of writing. Look online for writing jobs and first you will find simple projects.
Build a portfolio so that when a customer asks to see some of your previous work, you can provide samples. It will not take long and you will see that this type of work can be very profitable.
Freelance writing is high paced teleworking in the sector and web pages are literally havoc on the Internet. People need articles and Internet content like never before.
Clericals may accept work of writers which reduces their operating costs, as never before. During recent years, Internet has shown great progress for freelance writers and those who show diligence may make $ 500-600 per week.
If you think you might be interested in freelance writing make sure that you are self motivated and make sure that you have a quiet area to work in. That can often be a bit tougher than it may seem.
When you time your jobs, always allow for the unexpected and remember that distractions are so very common in a home environment. When you can least afford it someone will come over without calling.
Use time management wisely. After writing basic articles for some people, you may want to expand to electronic book writing. They take a little more time to write, but money is a lot better. Learn to judge your assignments so you do not stop working for long periods.
Freelance portals are popular. These allow a middleman to initiate contact between a provider and a buyer. For example, someone needs a particular job so they lay out what they need in detail. Writers then see the job description and the budget allowed and from there bid on a writing job.
If it is accepted, you will be notified by the buyer and when you finish your mission money is in escrow waiting for you to be paid.
When owning a business you must stay on top of everything. You need to have a system set in place that makes things work for you. It is this system that will be the heart and soul of your home business.
When you run your business from home you can often get home and work intertwined. Your work can be compromised if it is not in order. This is one of the problems that you can have by running your business out of your house.
At your office or work space there will be a handful of things that needs to be organized. You will have endless amount of papers, contacts and finances to handle. For each, you should find a concrete method of organization.
When you open your home business, you will have hundreds of documents handed to you. A lot of them will be important so it is necessary that you have a filing cabinet. This will allow you to organize your hard copies by content, date, person or value.
One way to increase your sales from home is formulating a sales letter. In the letter that you send out, you can highlight the fact that you are a home business. You can send potential clients a sales letter that has both a personal and professional touch to it.
There are a couple ways to get the sales letter to potential clients. The postal method is costly because you have to pay for paper, envelopes, stamps and ink. It is much better to do it via E-mail because clients will get it instantly, respond and forward.
If your home business involves food, then obviously you will need a formable kitchen. I think it is unreasonable to take up the family’s kitchen. Therefore you will need a place to cook and clean.
One sales method that has proven its worth is posting your product on an online auction sites. This will allow you to see what people value and how your products will fit in. It will allow you to increase sales as well.
If you have your monthly receipts, you can always enter them into an excel spread sheet and analyze your spending. By having all your items on paper, you can figure where to cut cost. You can also see where you need to invest more money.
Word of mouth is one of the best ways to increase sales. If you make people happy, they will talk and get their friends and family to buy. It will cost nothing to invest and it has a great turn around.
It is important that from the beginning you stay organize. Having both a business and home in the same area can get confusing. By staying on top of things, it has less of a chance of becoming overwhelmed.
Web hosting services are really a very critical component of having a very good online traffic. After going through the complicated process of designing a web site, the next step is to look for a very reliable web host that takes your website to new heights. Although free website may appear to be a very tempting offer because of the nil charges for the domain name, the choice between free and paid web hosting service depends on the scale of your business.
If someone wants to have a professional website which can really cater to the demands of its customers, then free website hosting is not the right decision. It is only a viable choice when one is planning to construct a personal website for showing-off to friends, a hobby site or a review forum, basically any kind of a non-profit making site. It is because such websites do not require a lot of services like high file uploading, large bandwidth leading to lower website traffic and disk space. In free of charge web-hosting services, due to restricted ftp, the ability to transfer files is quite limited. Even standard software languages like MySQL and PHP are not used in such sites, unlike those of professional web hosting companies.
Also, gratis web hosting service providers are not very credible as the technical support is not at all reliable. Customer service, although available, varies. Moreover, due to hording a large number of websites on the same server, sometimes the technical support is not available when the server is down. Moreover, in times of high traffic, the ability to handle the site is quite limited. Paid services, on the other hand, provide brilliant 24/7 telephonic or email customer support to guarantee utmost satisfaction to their customers. It is not tough to check the reliability of such web hosting services, as they have testimonials of an umpteen number of contented customers to support them.
A very common problem occurring with the most of the free websites is that they usually suffer from very high downtimes due to sharing of the disk space by a large number of websites. But, this is not the case with paid web hosting services where high uptimes are guaranteed, almost 99.9%, users can claim a compensation if it is not fulfilled.
Another problem that is frequently encountered by the free web host customers is that they are showing a lot of banner advertisements on their sites. This is done to meet the expenses, as the site is free. But, these flashing banners or popup windows can be very infiltrating for the user, since it ruins the style and theme of a site and sometimes might even, scare the customer.
Since no payment is being made for the domain name, problems can arise in the future when you decide to shift to another service provider. You end up losing all your traffic.
Free and paid website hosting services, each have their own pros and cons, but it is up to you, to choose anyone of them, depending upon your resources and the level of expected services.
