When I had to write my admission essays to get into college, I was a wreck. I was sure that this was the hardest thing that I was ever going to have to do in my life and I knew I was going to blow it. I did not blow it, but I am lucky that I lived through the heart palpitations that the experience gave me.
I had written an application essay and had done very well on it. It was not even near as nerve wracking to me, though. I had applied at several colleges and I knew that I would get into at least a few of them with my essay. But, when I got into the one I really wanted and had to go and write an admission essay, I thought I would fall apart.
The only thing that held me together was the fact that it was an online essay and I did not have to sit and think about it in a room full of strangers. I got into the school and I never had a problem writing essays from that day on. I am so thankful for the path that my life took and that I survived the experience.
Our college history class is taking a trip to Philadelphia for three days, as part of our final. We have all been given a list of tasks to complete to help the trip run smoothly. Thankfully, I am not in charge of booking flights for the thirty students and the professor.
I am, however, in charge of booking Philadelphia airport transportation. We need a bus that will take us from the airport to our hotel. I figured that this would be easy enough to handle, and I was right. I booked it with no problems at all.
I can now concentrate on the list of questions that we were given to complete on the trip. I am looking forward to my very first trip to Independence Hall and the Betsy Ross House. It is going to be the experience of a lifetime for us and I am so glad to be a part of it.
The college that I attend specializes in mechanics of all kinds. I am training to obtain my Airplane Mechanical Engineering certification and am a big fan and promoter of the school.
The avionics department is one of the best in the country. The teachers all come highly recommended and have years of experience in the industry, including building aircraft for the Air Force.
There is no shortage to the availability of aircraft parts available for us to use in practical training. In fact, when my fellow classmate and I needed some fasteners to complete the rebuild of an electrical panel for a 747, and there was none to be found, they were purchased and made available for us to use the next day.
I would recommend that anyone interested in becoming a mechanical engineer of any sort, strongly look into attending this school. The education that I have received has definitely been worth the money I put into it.
I am a second year college student and I am writing a paper on the Red River Rebellion. This paper is worth half of my final mark in my Native Studies class. Since a good mark is important to me, I thought that the best thing to do is to go to the original site of the rebellion to do my research.
I started to plan my trip and did a quick search online for Winnipeg Hotels Canada.
The first place that I checked out was Hotel Garry. Although it looked nice, it was a bit expensive for my student budget, so instead I decided to find something a little more economical.
The Carlton showed promise as the prices were more in my price range. Clean, modest and functional, I decided that this would be the place for me to stay. I called and made reservations – so I am all set for when I show up in Winnipeg.
Now, all I have to do is make a list of places I need to visit while I am there. After all the time and money I will end up investing in this paper, I better get a good mark in the class!
Now this term I am taking a computer science class – introduction to programming. I didn’t really want to take a computer science class, but it is part of the curriculum. That being said, it really hasn’t been that hard.
This week our assignment is about customizing a social networking site. Specifically we have been assigned to customize free MySpace layouts and take screen captures of them.
A simple search for MySpace layouts resulted in a large number of sites for me to find material for this assignment. I found a broad spectrum of layouts and proceeded to customize them.
I focused on simple things such as the position of blocks on the screen, comment graphics and changing colors. Within a short hour, I had my five screen captures and the code I used all assembled in a PDF file.
If these assignments continue to be this easy and fun, a good mark in this class is guaranteed – I don’t mind that at all.
As most of you know I am a full time student. Like most students, I am renting a small apartment and truth be told, I am paying as much for rent as I would paying for a mortgage payment.
The fact that I am a student doesn’t really bode well for me getting a mortgage – I really only work four months of the year. So I don’t know if I could even qualify for a loan – I would have to talk to somebody about it.
I have been online to compare loan rates from the different lenders and I did manage to find a company that caters to students – and that is just what I need. I also have been talking to my parents, and they have offered to help me buy my first home – provided I keep my grades up.
So, as I sit here in my hot apartment, I have some decisions to make. I really do think that buying a place would be better in the long run, but that may cause me to make some sacrifices in the short term – like getting a job. Thing is, I am so tired of renting…
Being a student is stressful at times with all the assignments and exams on your plate. To me it is okay, but sometimes it gets to you – and you need a way to take a break.
Like tonight for example – I am sitting here studying for an exam I have on Monday in Calculus. It doesn’t help my frustration when all my roommates are out at a party and I couldn’t go. I just find Calculus a little hard and I like to take my time working on it.
That being said, it doesn’t mean that I don’t need to take a break from the books once in awhile – and a bathroom break doesn’t count. I just make sure that I give myself a time limit – or I wouldn’t get any studying done.
Tonight I decided to find something that is as far from math as possible. So I started to look at some funny videos – and proceeded to roll around laughing. It amazes me how a little laughter can just lift up your day – and make the studying not seem so bad.
After about fifteen minutes, I was back studying. I was working on a bunch of integration problems and I could feel my head hurting – oh, time for another break! This time I was looking for something to play, like free online games, but something better than solitaire.
I managed to find a game of Super Mario that I ended up playing for the next half hour – Halloween Mario of all games. Then I decided to blog about it here, but now I need to get back to it – back to the Calculus I love (sense the sarcasm??).
